Fuel Guide

Fuel Your Fire Pits

Fuel Your Fire Pits
Spark (6" Table Top):
  • Primary Fuel: Pellets for the 6" fire pit Spark.
  • Secondary Choice: Firewood, chopped to 3-4 inches in height and 1-2 cm in width.

Glow (9" for Balcony):

  • Primary Fuel: 5" hardwood for the 9" fire pit Glow.
  • Wood Preparation: Ensure the wood is chopped to 5 inches in height and 1 inch in width/diameter. Avoid thick pieces as they may choke the pit.

 Radiance (15" for Backyard):

  • Primary Fuel: 8" hardwood for the 15" fire pit Radiance.
  • Wood Preparation: Chop the wood to 8 inches in height and 1.5-2 inches in diameter.

Note: For both pellets and wood, ensure the fire pit is not filled to the brim. The fuel should be below the secondary vents for optimal performance.

Hardwoods vs. Softwoods

  • Hardwoods: Dense woods like oak, maple, and birch burn longer, making them ideal for sustained fires.
  • Softwoods: Quick-igniting woods like pine and fir burn faster, making them great for kindling.
Seasoned Wood
  • Use wood that has been seasoned (dried) with moisture content less than 20%. Seasoned wood burns more efficiently, produces less smoke, and has better heat output.
  • Look for wood that is lighter in weight, has visible cracks at the ends, and sounds hollow when struck.
Avoid Green or Wet Wood
  • Green wood (freshly cut) and wet wood have high moisture content, making them harder to ignite and causing them to produce more smoke and less heat.
Always ensure the wood is dry and well-seasoned.
